Why ODP

Identify. Develop. Advance.

The Olympic Development Program exists “to identify and provide opportunities for high potential players, facilitate their development, expose them to the next level of their chosen pathway and motivate their pursuit of excellence.” Northern Nevada ODP was approved in 2017 to serve Northern Nevada and its surrounding areas, and runs alongside club soccer — players never leave their club to take part.

Questions

Before you register

What ages can try out?

Players born 2009 through 2016, boys and girls. Birth years 2013–2016 try out from 5:00–6:15 pm; birth years 2009–2012 try out from 6:30–8:00 pm.

Do we have to attend both tryout dates?

No — a player can attend one or both sessions depending on their schedule. Attending both is strongly encouraged.

Can my player play high school soccer and ODP?

Yes, without violating NCAA rules. Nevada Youth Soccer provides a form for your high school principal, who forwards it to the school district. Email ODP@nevadayouthsoccer.org with “ODP High School form needed” in the subject line.

How are players selected?

At open tryouts, by licensed state association coaches. Players are evaluated on the four components that make up a soccer player: technique, tactics, fitness and athletic ability, and the psychological component — attitude.

Do we have to leave our club team?

No. ODP runs alongside club soccer. Players stay registered and playing with their own club the entire time.

What does it cost?

Tryout registration is [REGISTRATION FEE]. Players selected into the pool register and pay through GotSport; the pool fee covers the training sessions and one training top. [SCHOLARSHIP INFO]
